Tree Nuts
Tree Nuts grow on trees. This is one of the ways they differ from peanuts (which grow in the ground). Tree nuts is a collective term, referring to many different nuts. These include: almonds, cashews, pecans, and many more.

Since Tree Nuts are different from Peanuts, they also contain different types of proteins.*
Proteins also differ between each Tree Nut, which means that someone who reacts to Almonds may not react to Cashews.

Proteins in foods are most often the cause of an allergic reaction.*
See separate "Peanuts" page for more info on them!**

Per review, coconut allergy has not been seen as often as the other "Tree Nuts" listed. In addition, it often appears separately of other allergies. (AKA those who are allergic to coconut are not often also allergic to these other Tree Nuts listed.).
Tree Nut Allergy tends to be seen more lifelong, however research has shown ~9% of cases do outgrow. (F.A.R.E.: https://www.foodallergy.org/living-food-allergies/food-allergy-essentials/common-allergens/tree-nut)
